Dunsborough Information
Dunsborough is located 258 km south of Perth in the waters of Geographe Bay, and has a population of around only 4,000 people.
Dunsborough was previously judged WA’s Top Tourism Town and when you arrive here you will see why.
Unlike other coastal towns by the Ocean, Georaphe Bay is shelterd making it a very tranquil and peacful spot to relax at.
One amazing aspect of Dunsborough is how shallow the water is. You can easily walk approximately a hundred meters before it becomes deep water.
The name of Dunsborough is a mystery. A rumour says it was named after an American whaler named Dunn who settled in the area during the wet season and that the area simply became known as “Dunns Burrow” (Dunsborough).
it is an ideal family holiday retreat with its quiet coves, sandy beaches, surrounding national park, nature reserves and numerous scenic walk trails.
An artificial reef, the Swan dive wreck is located in Dunsborough. being the largest wreck site in the southern hemisphere it is definately a must do item for the aquatic diver enthusiast.
Dunsborough is also located close to the Margaret River Wine region as well as Eagle Bay and Bunker Bay which offer fantastic beaches for fishing, snorkelling and swimming.
If you are into wildlife, then see Leeuwin Naturaliste National park and Meelup Reginal park. There are numerous walks and enjoy the wildflowers with spectacular scenery.
