Kununurra Information
Kununurra is a small town way far north and is the gateway in and out of Western Australia.
Tourism attractions in Kununurra are lake Argyle and the Ord River. Lake Argyle is the largest artificial lake with over 100 square kms in size.
The famous Boab trees are everywhere in Kununurra and are unique to Australia. Wildflowers are also seen during the year when it rains and provide a wonderful and different enriching experience.
The movie called Australia and starring Nicole Kidman the famous actress was made here. You will be amazed with the stunning scenery around in Kununarra just like featured in the film, however it is always better to see things with your own eyes.
Take a tour on Lake Argyle or see farmers cattle mustering in the outback. Its all here and you will be happy and delighted you left the big city.
Only 120 kms away from Kununurra is the Argyle Diamond mine located in the Matsu Ranges on Lake Argyle. The Argyle Diamond mine leads the world in volume of production of diamonds and is a very interesting place for tourists to visit.
Also Located nearby Kununurra is the famous Bungle Bungle. This would have to be one of Natures best wonders and one of the most awsome experiences to be had in all of Western Australia.
The Bungle Bungle elevates 580 meters above sea level and is an easily accessible park from the Spring Creek Track road about 250kms south of Kununurra. You can only use this track in the dry season only (Begining April to the end December)
