Mount Barker Information

Mount Barker is one of the largest of Australia's wine regions and tourists who pass through the area take a good stop to look at its beauty.

You will find an area of close to 1,000 square kilometers of some of the most picturesque and unspoilt countryside in Western Australia.

Once you stay at Mount barker you will fall in love with the area. Who knows you may be like many who have visited that end up staying forever. stay forever.

The popular misconception is that Mount Barker is just another stop on the way to Albany. Instead this is one of the most fabulous places to stay at without the hustle of and bustle of Albany.

Only 5 kms from the centre of town lies Mount Barker Hill which reaches over 400 meters above sea level. There is also a 160 meter TV tower found on the top of the hill.

On a nice sunny day with fine weather you can sctually see the Albany Wind Farm which is only located about 50kms away.

Both the Stirling and Pongurup Ranges are located just a short distance from town and are a great place to see. Both are different in appearance although they do have in common the popularity during the wildflower season which runs from August to November

With magnificent history and heritage, Mount Barker will delight your mind with knowledge from days of old. The old police station built in 1868 is now an actual museum and a feature of the town.

While staying in Mount Barker, don't forget to visit some of the nice vineyards and places to eat. There are a variety of hidden restaurants and some offer some fantastic views overlooking the lovely countryside.
