Kiama New South Wales
Kiama is a relative large town with about 13,000 people and is an extremely popular tourist destination.
One of the most famous attractions to see in the area is the Kiama Blowhole. In the right conditions the blowhole can spray water up to 25 meters in the air. Kiama in the aboriginal language means, “where the sea makes noise” and the town was named Kiama in the blowholes honour.
Kiama also gains much publicity for the beaches where surfing conditions are excellent all year round. Many surfing competitions are also held in Kiama with the biggest being held at Jones beach and Bombo beach.
For nature sightseeing Cathedral Rock is another place not to miss. Located at Bombo rock formations stand tall out of the ocean like huge natural made skyscrapers.
Just 10 minutes inland from Kiama is the Jamberoo Recreation Park. Originally constructed in 1981 as a giant waterslide the place has grown significantly and now includes grass skiing, toboggans and many new swimming pools. Perfect for a warm day to cool down and relax at.
Kiama also features two fantastic rock pools each side of the Kiama Harbour. These pools are different to any pool you have ever experienced before.
Fishing fanatics will also enjoy Kiama with many great catches. Best spots in the area are Kiama Harbour, Seven Mile beach, Werri beach and the Minnamurra River.
There are also many top wineries nearby Kiama in the Shoal Coast wine region which provide a perfect relaxing atmosphere for a meal and some wine tasting.
Nature lovers will enjoy the wildlife. Budderoo National Park and the Barren Grounds Nature reserve provide some of the best walking tracks and waterfalls. In the region.
