Agnes Water Queensland
Agnes Water is a fantastic holiday destination in Queensland and a very popular tourist spot. With a population of about 3500 people it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some tranquillity by the ocean without the crowds.
Surfing is one of Agnes Waters major drawcard. It is the most northern point in Queensland to go surfing at, as past Agnes Point to as far as Cairns the Barrier Reef prohibits suitable waves. The Beach has the best of both worlds boasting both surfing spots and calm tranquil waters as it is located right on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef.
Agnes Water is also near the town of 1770 where, as history tells that Captain Cook discovered it first by stepping ashore in that time. The Agnes Water Museum House will give you more fascinating facts on Captain Cook and his voyage to the area.
The town is also surrounded by National Parks so Eco tours which are a must do activity when coming here. Enjoy the beach early in the morning and then set out for the perfect Eco picnic.
Tours and sightseeing adventures are vast at Agnes Water. Enjoy the wonderful Island cruises, fishing, diving, and Barrier Reef tours or go for the 4WD tour through the National Parks. Agnes Water also offers scooter tours that are a magnificent way to explore the region and have fun at the same time.
Lady Musgrave Island and Fitzroy Reef are the most popular tours visitors tend to go on. Both are uniquely different and very enjoyable for a great coral reef and coastal wilderness experience.
For more surfing news, the 1770 Longboard Classic surfing event is held every March at Agnes Water and provides plenty of entertainment and attracts some large crowds.
