Airlie Beach Information

Airlie Beach with a population of about 3,000 people is the mainland town in the Whitsundays, located right in the heart of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest reef that can be seen from outer space as it stretches over 3000 Kms long.

The Whitsunday islands were named by Captain James Cook in 1770 after he was travelling through on the Christian Pentecost day known as Whit Sunday.

Airlie Beach is a very popular tourist destination as it is an embarking point to over 70 pristine nearby islands which are a sailor’s paradise. The town of Airlie Beach also has a free resort like public swimming pool due to the stinger jellyfish which make the beach inaccessible from November to May.

Facilities in Airlie Beach are specifically designed for your perfect dream holiday. There is so much to do and see that it is very unlikely you will ever be bored.

The town itself provides entertainment excitement with heaps of bars, clubs, shopping and restaurants for you to enjoy. With so many tourists from all over the world gathering here you are bound to get with the holiday spirit and enjoy yourself.

There are various boat charters to take you whale watching, island hopping, sailing, fishing, diving, snorkelling and sightseeing.

Airlie Beach also has Crocodile Safari and Eco tours for those wanting to experience nature and scenery. It is also worth taking a plane trip in a small aircraft charter and if you are adventurous enough then try skydiving for fun.

Whatever your holiday desires, Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays provide them all. You definitely won’t be disappointed with the nightlife or activities to do and like many will remember your time here forever.
