Ipswich in Queensland is a very populated city of about 160,000 people who live and reside here. Ipswich was discovered in 1826 by Captain Patrick Logan when he sailed up the Brisbane River. In 1904 Ipswich was declared a city.

The community has large industries with coal mining, sawmills, abattoirs and agriculture. Also the Royal Australian Air Force headquarters is based in Ipswich.

Ipswich is also home to the Prestegious University of Queensland. Many overseas students and some of the brightest in our society study here.

Every May the annual Ipswich Show is held by the Queensland Pastoral and Agricultural Society. There are rodeos, agricultural displays and various show rides to keep you excited and it is a great event not to be missed.

Another exciting festival held every year is the Jacaranda Festival held in October. There is heaps of entertainment with street festivals, market stalls and a side show alley. One favourite event at the festival with the crowds is the tug a war competition.

Ipswich holds various Museums such as the Rosewood Railway, Workshops Rail, Australian Motorcycle, and the Harrisville Historical Society Museum. All provide different experiences and history to discover.
