Yeppoon Information
Yeppoon in Queensland is a coastal resort town with a population of about 15,000 people. It is a very popular tourist destination and also one of Australia’s fastest growing towns.
The major drawcard for Yeppoon is the vast long stretches of white sandy beaches and the nearby Keppel Island. If you are looking for the perfect beach holiday then Yeppoon should be your number one destination to visit.
Lying just 15 kilometres off the coastline of Yeppoon is Great Keppel Island. The island is the largest out of 18 islands in the Keppel group and the most visited by tourists. There is a ferry service that will take you directly from Yeppoon to Great Keppel Island’s main beach.
Great Keppel Island is such a fantastic Island that currently there are development plans to build a massive tourist resort including a world class golf course which is due to be constructed soon in 2010.
The area around Yeppoon is also abundant with seafood. Fishing, snorkelling, diving, boating and all other water sports like waterskiing, jet skiing and wakeboarding are extremely popular.
Just a few kilometres south of Yeppoon you will find Kemp Beach and Causeway Lake which is another hot spot to visit. The area is surrounded by a National Park which makes the perfect day trip out for a relaxing picnic in the beautiful environment.
Other attractions to Yeppoon not to miss include Cooberrie Wildlife Park, Koorana Crocodile Park and the various water park eco tours that are abundant in the area.
Every year in September Yeppoon hosts the Lions Club Pineapple festival nicknamed the Tropical Pinefest. The event draws crowds from all over Australia and is packed with popular family events, parades and concerts. Well worth a visit.
