Murray Bridge Information
Murray Bridge is the fourth largest city in South Australia situated in the centre of the Murraylands with a population of about 18,000 people. The city is named after the bridge that spans across the Murray River. The aboriginal people refer to the bridge as “Pomberuk” .
Murray Bridge is well known for horse racing. First races were held in 1899 and the Murray Bridge Gold Cup is the city’s most prestigious event
There are many exciting things to do in Murray Bridge with one of the biggest drawcards being the Murray River that offers a variety of activities from boat cruises down the Murray River to excellent carp and cod fishing.
Another star attraction is Dundee’s Wildlife Park. The wildlife park is so interactive that visitors can have the opportunity to get hands on with nature by holding crocodiles, koalas, pythons and black cockatoos.
More wildlife and in particular bird watching is popular at the Rocky Gully Reserve. The Reserve is home to over 350 species of bird life and is complete with a magnificent viewing platform.
The Murray Bridge Regional Gallery is also a big hit for art lovers. Recognised as one of the leading regional art galleries in South Australia, the gallery features three exhibition spaces with means there is always something exciting to see.
The Murray Bridge Golf Club is also a big hit with golfing enthusiasts. located in the centre of town on Ritter street, the 18-hole course features a challenging layout and offers superb playing conditions.
For some adrenaline action the Murray Bridge Speedway is the place to be. Located on the Banks of the Murray, the speedway is one of Australia’s premier sprint car venues.
