Coles Bay Information
Coles Bay in Tasmania is a small town with a population of about 800 people. Coles Bay was once a town where whalers and miners lived. There are still plenty of old mining and whaling shafts around making Coles Bay a very popular tourist destination in Tasmania.

Also don’t miss the Freycinet Marine Farm. The farm is made up of 6 different growing regions totaling just less than 150 acres and is a mixture of estuarine and fully marine growing areas. The estuarine areas are in the Greater Swanport river estuary, boarded by the Pelican Bay bird sanctuary on the upstream side and open to Great Oyster bay on the down stream side. The marine zones are off shore from Freycinet National Park and are open to the Southern Ocean to the south.
Every year during Easter time, Coles Bay is the scene of the Australian Three Peaks Race, which is a continuous sailing and running event. The event goes from Launceston to Hobart and contestants stop at Coles Bay where two runners are sent to scale Mt Freycinet.
