Marrawah Information
Marrawah in Tasmania is a farming area, which has some very large cattle farms with most being several hundreds of acres big. Marrawah in not much a township but a hot spot for surfers, cyclists and nature lovers to come and visit.
Most surfers will point out that some of the best spots in the world are very isolated and Marrawah is one of those destinations. Every year the O’Neil Coldwater Classic surfing competition is held in Marrawah which is the most northern, the most southern, the wildest, the coldest and the most classic surf contest on the planet. Five exotic, unique and extreme destinations are on the tournaments circuit and Marrawah Tasmania being one, Scotland, South Africa, Nova Scotia and California the other four.
Nature lovers will enjoy Marrawah as it has plenty of wildlife discoveries right in front of your doorstep. You can see Echidnas and the Bennetts wallaby, which is one of Tasmania’s most commonly seen native animals. The Bennetts Wallaby is often referred to as a kangaroo in Tasmania and males can weigh more than 20 kg and stand up to 1.5 m tall.

For the bike-riding enthusiast there is a bicycle path starting at the Marrawah Sporting Ground. A scenic trip is to do the Stanley run and back which is about 100 kilometres. Along the way is some of Tasmania’s most spectacular scenery. For the really out there cyclists Marrawah is the starting point of the bike track that runs 1,200 kilometres all the way to Hobart.
