Ringarooma Information

Ringarooma in Tasmania is a very small town with a population of less than 300 people. The town was founded in 1882 for farming and still contains many rural farming properties. Originally the land and the surrounding area was owned by the Krushka family and when founded it was known as the Town of Krushka before being renamed in 1888 to Ringarooma.

Located nearby is Mount Victoria, which hosts Ralph Falls and Cash’s Gorge that make Ringarooma the perfect eco tourism holiday away from the crowds found that are found in many other tourist destinations in Tasmania.

Ralph falls is located just a short drive (20 kilometres) away which is purely a breathtaking adventure and must see place for any environmental enthusiast. Close to the falls is Norm’s lookout, which is a platform with the perfect panoramic views for your holiday photo snaps. There are also BBQ facilities, which makes this place the best place in Tasmania to experience the perfect Aussie Barbecue.

Cash’s Gorge is also another great place to visit and very close by Ralph Falls. Some tourists have described Cash’s Gorge as being a bit eerie but all agree the visit is very interesting and leaves and everlasting impression on your mind.

Ringarooma also hosts the perfect nine-hole golf club for any golfing enthusiast. Located at 230 Schramms Road off Ringarooma Road, the golf club offers the best round of golf set in wonderful environment scenery.

While staying in Ringarooma it is also advisable to take a day trip to Legerwood just 5 kilometres south. The village was named after Legerwood a town in Scotland which explorer James Scott Called home. The township is known for its milk processing plant.

Another great day trip close by is to see Alberton, which is an old gold mining town and has fantastic views of Mathina Hill.
