Mornington Information

Mornington is a popular seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula. With a population of 18,000 it still retains that sleepy village atmosphere that attracts local Melbournians for day trips and quick weekend excursions.

Some of the main highlights are the fantastic festivals that occur throughout the year such as the food and wine festival in October and the ‘Carnivale’ on the Melbourne Cup weekend.

There are Restaurants with fine dining experiences, Cafes, Boutiques and Galleries to keep you busy. The street markets are filled with locally grown produce, a national Antique Centre with 60,000 square feet of collectables and the old Post Office Museum.

For those who do love the tranquil waters, there are a number of bays and beaches stretching over 20 kilometres. Also visit Fossil Beach in the south, where fossils dating back 25 million years have been found is definitely worth a mention.

Take a yacht charter around the pristine waters and sample a gourmet lunch with a bottle from the fine local wineries while the dolphins leap and play around the boat.

For the family holiday, take the kids to Oakbank Children’s Farm where the little ones can ride on the tractors, feed the farm animals and get a chance to milk the cows.

For the rambler, there are amazing sights through the walks within the region’s many parks such as Mt Martha Park and Briars Historic Park.

Whilst in the Mornington region, a visit to Manyung Gallery is a must. This huge eight gallery complex with its Castle like Façade, Moat and Drawbridge holds an impressive display of contemporary Sculptures along with some fascinating Oil and Watercolour paintings.
