For some eco tourism excitement the best place to go is the nearby Griffith Island. The Island is the breeding ground for mutton birds, which come to nest in April before their pacific migration. On the island is also the iconic Port Fairy lighthouse that is well worth a visit.
A great event not to miss is the Port Fairy Folk Festival in early March every year. The festival attracts over 500 artists with 12 venues throughout town playing concerts, theatre and other live performances. The Port Fairy Folk Festival attracts a staggering 40,000 people each year and is an event not to miss.
