Shepparton Information
Shepparton in Victoria is a large city with a population of about 40,000 people. The name Shepparton originates from a squatter called Sherbourne Sheppard who squatted in Tallygaroopna station in the 1850’s. Shepparton is home to the SPC canned fruit processing plant which contributes enormously to the economy.
Something unusual about Shepparton is that it has some very interesting painted cows. The Fibreglass cows are displayed throughout the town and are painted by local artists. The cows represent the large dairy industry that is prevalent to the region of Shepparton. The Cows make the perfect holiday picture.
The Sherrarton Art Gallery also displays more fine art for you to see on your holiday. The gallery features artworks from convict days to present.
The Riverside Gardens next door to the Dutch Windmill is a hidden gem to discover in Shepparton. The gardens provide beautiful scenery and there is an 18 hole mini golf course for your enjoyment.
Another great attraction to Shepparton if you’re travelling with kids is to see the SPC Armona Kids Town playground. This playground has everything a kid wants including tree houses, maze, mokey bars, sandpits and more. Why not enjoy a great family picnic in the BBQ area.
If you are in Shepparton on a hot day then the perfect place to cool off is at Aquamoves aquatic centre located in town. There is a fantastic indoor pool with a water slide and even a Tarzan swing.
Shepparton is also home to the Chocolate Apple factory located in School road. The factory produces not just chocolate apples but also offers excellent jams, natural fruit juices, liqueurs, fresh fruit and more. If fruit is not your forte then visit the Nut Man at 25 Clarke Street for excellent nuts, dried beans, herbs, spices, local honey and more fantastic produce.
