Swan Hill in Victoria is a small city located o the south bank of the Murray River. The city was first established in 1846 when the European community settled the area for growing agricultural products.
Swan Hill was also the site where the famous explorers Burke and Wills stoped on their expedition from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria on the 6th September 1860.
One of the best attractions to Swan Hill is the Pioneer Settlement, which is a fully recreated town from the pioneering days. There are plenty of heritage buildings and features restored carriages, trucks, cars and a fully operational steam paddler. The Paddle steamer is available for a cruise down the Murray River.

The Olson Game Pheasant Farm is another attraction to Swan Hill. Not for the faint-hearted or nature lovers, this farm was established for the breeding of game birds, which are sold on the markets for restaurants and gourmet food outlets. The farm also sells direct or to the public and one of their biggest hits is the Pheasant sausages.
Fishing is also excellent on the Murray River. The prize catch is the Murray River cod that can grow up to 1.8 meters in length and is a renowned sporting fish. The best way to catch the cod is to go boat drifting and use an aeroplane spinner lure during the night.
Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the Murray Downs Golf Club, which is located just a short distance east of the township. The course features a magnificent set 18-hole par 72 and is set in wonderful wildlife scenery.
